Frequently Asked Questions

Will my appointment be covered by insurance?

Most Functional Medicine visits aren’t covered by insurance. The reason: Health insurance companies typically require a diagnosis and a prescription, while Functional Medicine Practitioners charge by time — not by diagnosis. This means that out-of-pocket costs for an initial consultation can be higher, and tests may or may not be covered by insurance. However, since Functional Medicine helps to prevent illness, in the long run, it can actually be more cost-effective overall.

Can I use my FSA/HSA?

THE WELL now accepts FSA / HSA cards for applicable services and retail purchases. Be sure to check your plan for allowable categories.

What certifications do the Functional Medicine doctors hold?

Doctors, nurses and other healthcare practitioners who practice Functional Medicine are required to have a healthcare degree (such as MD, RN, RD or other accreditations). They also go through a certification program, such as the Institute of Functional Medicine, which consists of seven courses, a case study and a written exam.

What COVID safety precautions are being taken for Functional Medicine services?

The correct use of a face mask will be required at all times for both Practitioners and guests, with the exception of services that require removal of the guest's face mask. In those cases, the practitioner will be required to wear a face shield in addition to their mask.

We have also extended our cleaning time between appointments to ensure spaces are cleaned and disinfected according to CDC guidelines.
