This energizing smoothie tastes like a milkshake — but with antioxidant-rich spinach and cacao, it's way better for you.
This simple shake tastes so delicious you'd never guess there's a full cup of veggies hidden in it. Take a sip and I promise, you'll never be tempted to reach for a fast-food frosty or Frappucino again.
Cacao powder is packed with powerful antioxidants, as well as beneficial nutrients, such as magnesium, chromium, iron and manganese. Chocolate can also improve cardiovascular health and helps build strong bones. Bonus: It works as a mild aphrodisiac, and enhances your mood and energy levels.
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups almond milk
- 1 cup spinach
- 2 tbsp cacao powder (raw is best)
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- Your choice of sweetener (suggested options listed below)
- Leaves from 5 stems of mint
- 1 tbsp cacao nibs
- 4 ice cubes
Sweetener options (choose one):
- 1/2 banana
- 1 tsp monkfruit
- 5 drops liquid stevia (make sure it's 100% stevia!)
- 1 tsp raw honey
Directions:
1. Blend the first six ingredients until smooth.
2. Add in ice cubes and blend until crushed, then add in the cacao nibs and blend for few more seconds. You want the nibs to give you the “chocolate chip feeling” in the shake, so don’t crush them completely.
